GUIDE FOR PARENTS OF YOUNGER CHILDREN

NATIVITY OF THE THEOTOKOS AND PRESENTATION OF THE THEOTOKOS

Objectives:

1. Students should be able to tell the stories of these two great feasts.

2. Students should know the names of Joachim and Anna and Mary.

Possible Lesson Plan:

1. Open with prayer.

2. Read the story of the feasts:

Nativity of Theotokos and Presentation of Theotokos

Home activities:

Anna and Joachim made a promise to God, fulfilled when Mary entered the Temple.
Have your child, with your guidance make a reasonable promise to God and fulfill it.
Print the puzzle page of the Jerusalem Temple, color, cut out, and then try to get it together again.
Bake a birthday cake for Mary.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, help me to keep my promises to you as did Joachim and Anna. Amen
