  2. Children should know the word “miracle” and what it means.
  3. Children should know the importance of saying, “Thank you”.

Lazarus

THE RAISING OF LAZARUS

Objectives:

  1. Children should be able to tell the story of Lazarus in their own words.
  2. Children should know the names of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus.

Home Activities:

  • Visit a museum with mummies – e.g. the Walters.
  • Visit an old graveyard.  Tell the story of Lazarus there and do some grave rubbings with
  • newsprint and crayons.
  • Read the story at bedtime each night.
  • Puzzle and coloring page. Put the icon in your icon corner.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, by raising Lazarus from the dead before Your passion, you confirmed the universal resurrection, O Christ God! Amen.

Palm Sunday

PALM SUNDAY

Objectives:

  1. Children should know that Palm Sunday celebrates Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
  2. They should be able to identify the characters in the icon and tell the story.

Home Activities:

  • Place the icon of the feast in a prominent place in your home.
  • Say this prayer each night: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Dear Jesus, You are our only King.  Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord. Amen.
  • Make cut-out cookies with a donkey-shaped cookie-cutter.
  • Do our puzzle.
  • Read the story at bedtime each night.
