Revelation 3:20 – Jesus Knocks at the Door

Scripture Reference: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”

 

Objectives:

  1. Children should understand that Jesus is right near us all the time.
  2. Children should have an opportunity to sit quietly with the Lord this week, listening for His voice in prayer.

Baptism

BAPTISM

 

Objectives:

  1. Students should know that we enter God’s church through baptism.
  2. Students should be able to name the objects used in a baptism.

 

Possible Lesson Plan:

 

  1. Open with prayer.

 

  1. Review with the students the story of Theophany, the baptism of Jesus.  Where was he baptized? By whom?  Who spoke and what appeared? Read it yet again in your children’s Bible.

Chrismation

CHRISMATION

Objectives:

  1. Children should know that we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit at Chrismation.
  2. Children should be able to respond “Seal!” during Chrismation services.

  1. Review last week’s lesson on baptism.  Have the children share their pictures of their own baptism.

Objectives:

  1. Children should know what happened at Annunciation.
  2. Children should be able to identify the figures in the icon.

Objectives:

  1. Children should understand the need to confess our sins and receive the Lord’s forgiveness.

PALM SUNDAY

 

Objectives:

  1. Children should know that Palm Sunday celebrates Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
  2. They should be able to identify the characters in the icon and tell the story.

Pascha

PASCHA

Objectives:

  1. Children should know the Paschal greeting and response, in as many languages as possible.
  2. Children should know that on Pascha we celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.
  3. Children should recognize the icon and the figures in it.

Possible Lesson Plan:

  1. Open with prayer: Teach and sing the hymn, “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death; and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!”

Objectives:

  1. Children should know the names of the common objects and people that are a part of the liturgy.
  2. Children should be familiar with the various parts of the liturgy and their purpose.

Marriage

MARRIAGE

Objectives:

  1. Children should know that marriage is the joining of a man and a woman to form a family.
  2. Children should be able to say that the two parts of the marriage ceremony are the betrothal and the crowning.

  1. Discuss the Christian family.  Let each of the children tell about their families.  Do they have a mother and a father? How were the parents joined? (Marriage)
