  2. Children should know that on Pascha we celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.
  3. Children should recognize the icon and the figures in it.

Home Activities:

  • Traditionally the Orthodox visit the cemetery this day; visit the graves of any family members.  Pray for them.
  • Make koliva with your child. Recipe enclosed.
  • Puzzle for older children. Coloring page.
  • Read the story at bedtime each night.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, for the Christians departed this life before us, especially (names), we pray thee give them rest, in the place of Thy rest. Amen.

Home activities:

  • Plant herbs in egg carton or planter.
  • Each day boil some potpourri.
  • Make sweet-smelling sachets for your child’s drawers.
  • Read the story at bedtime each night.

Road to Emmaeus

Road to Emmaeus

Home activities:

  • Take a hike each day with your child.  Look at the budding spring around you and recall the rebirth of Pascha.
  • Make a hiking stick and use it for your hikes. Decorate it to remind you of the road to Emmaeus.
  • Puzzle and coloring page.
